Japanese rock band CHAI have shared a music video for their new song “NO MORE CAKE.” The visual, directed by Hideto Hotta, finds the quartet smearing its faces with colorful frosting, paint, and cake batter. Check out the full clip below and scroll down for the single art, designed by CHAI bassist and lyricist YUUKI.

“NO MORE CAKE” is “a sarcastic poke about wearing makeup,” CHAI vocalist MANA said in a press release, adding: “We feel like that you should wear makeup that you feel suits you. Wearing makeup shouldn’t be based on the orders of someone else.” YUUKI elaborated, “Doing your makeup to look like another person is the same as applying cake to your face,” while guitarist KANA said: “We wanted the theme for this music video to be ‘makeup meets art.’ That’s why at times we had our faces looking like cake and then expressed as art.”

CHAI released their sophomore album PUNK back in 2019. They wrapped up a tour with Whitney earlier this year.
