Japandroids are currently on tour behind their latest album Near to the Wild Heart of Life. Last night, they performed at Toronto’s Massey Hall, where they covered a song by the Tragically Hip, as Exclaim! points out. They played “Nautical Disaster” from the Hip’s 1994 album Day for Night. Watch Japandroids’ rendition below. On Tuesday, October 17, the Tragically Hip frontman Gord Downie died after a battle with brain cancer. Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau memorialized Downie, as did a number of Canadian artists including Drake, Neil Young, and Feist. Downie’s new 2xLP, Introduce Yerself, comes out this Friday, October 27.
