Moses Sumney has announced a new album and film, capturing a one-take performance recorded in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina. The album, Live From Blacklachia, is out December 10. Below, watch Sumney’s performance of Græ’s “Bystanders.”

Sumney and his band recorded Live From Blackalachia in summer 2020. The album features performances of Græ and Aromanticism songs. Sumney directed the album’s film counterpart, Blackalachia. “Over the course of two days, we filmed 14 songs, totally live, the trees as our audience, the grasshoppers our background singers,” he explained in a statement. “Live From Blackalachia is a wild imagining of what can happen when we seek not just to reclaim nature, but to reintegrate with it.”
