Stephen Malkmus is the latest artist to cover the theme song for the Adult Swim cartoon “Squidbillies.” “It was fun to listen to all the different takes on the theme song available on the ‘net, and to decide what direction to take it,” Malkmus told Billboard. “After several different takes with totally different chords and tempos, we decided to ‘bash it out’ in a loose, rock band style, keeping the same general chords progressions as the original.” Check out his rendition and a behind the scenes video below.
Other recent acts to put their spin on the song include Laura Jane Grace, Bob Mould, and Ty Segall. Malkmus’ last album, Wig Out at Jagbags, arrived in 2014.
