At tonight’s ceremony for the 2016 Hyundai Mercury Prize, actor Michael C. Hall (“Dexter,” “Six Feet Under”) took to the stage to perform “Lazarus” from David Bowie’s Mercury-nominated album Blackstar. The song is also the title track of the musical that Bowie wrote the music and lyrics for, which premiered in New York just before his death. Hall, who starred in the New York production, will reprise his role in London when the show opens in October. For the Mercury Prize performance, Hall was backed by Henry Hey and the Lazarus house band. Watch it below.

The Lazarus cast album, out October 21, will feature Bowie’s final recordings.

Other albums nominated for this year’s Mercury Prize include Anohni’s Hopelessness, Bat for Lashes’ The Bride, Radiohead’s *A Moon Shaped Pool, *Savages’ Adore Life, and more. Skepta beat out those artists and more with his album Konnichiwa. In his acceptance speech, Skepta said, “Rest in peace David Bowie.”
