Kendrick Lamar accepted his 2018 Pulitzer Prize for Music today at Columbia University in New York. See images from the ceremony below, and catch the livestream on Facebook. According to reports, Kendrick received a standing ovation upon receiving the award. “It’s an honor,” he said during his acceptance. “Been writing my whole life, so to get this type of recognition is beautiful.”

Kendrick took home the award for his 2017 album DAMN., which the Pulitzer committee described as “a virtuosic song collection unified by its vernacular authenticity and rhythmic dynamism that offers affecting vignettes capturing the complexity of modern African-American life.” DAMN. also won Best Rap Album at the 2018 Grammy Awards. Kendrick is currently on the TDE Championship Tour, where a screen has been flashing the words “Pulitzer Kenny” on stage. Earlier today, Jay Rock shared a new video for his Kendrick collaboration, “Win.”
