New Technics SL-1200G Turntable Available Now, Costs $4000

Panasonic announced earlier this year that it was rebooting the iconic Technics SL-1200 series of turntables, the industry standard for DJs that use vinyl. Now, the first shipments of the new SL-1200G turntables have begun trickling into the United States, as Thump points out. Pitchfork has confirmed the list price of $4000 USD; the actual retail price has yet to be confirmed. According to Technics CTO Tetsuya Itani, the new model of SL-1200 has been redesigned “from scratch” and will prove sturdier, hence the hefty price tag. Itani also hinted at the time that Panasonic would consider releasing a less expensive version in the future. A full list places to buy the new turntable is available here.
