Dave Eggers Announces 4-Year-Long, 1,000 Song Anti-Trump Playlist

The new initiative begins with a live version of R.E.M.’s “It’s the End of the World As We Know It”

Writer Dave Eggers has announced his latest initiative, 1000 Days, 1000 Songs. An extension of his 30 Days, 30 Songs project, which released new songs every day in the month leading up to Election Day, the new project will be an “evolving playlist,” updated every weekday during Donald Trump’s presidential term with a new protest song. The first of the 1,000 songs is a live version of R.E.M.’s classic “It’s the End of the World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine),” recorded in 1989. Different guest curators (artists, labels, writers, celebrities) will be tapped to curate the picks throughout the years to come. 1000 Days, 1000 Songs will share “select songs” with the protest song subscription service Our First 100 Days for the first 100 days of the Trump administration.
