Last week, Solange released her excellent new album A Seat at the Table. In a new documentary called A Seat at the Table, Beginning Stages, she shares footage of the album’s creation. You can watch it below. Solange calls the film “a look at the early days of jam sessions, experimentation, and the exploring of sounds and ideas for the album.” It features Solange working on early versions of “Don’t Touch My Hair,” “Mad,” “Don't You Wait,” “Where Do We Go,” and more. Sampha, Kwes, Kindness, Sean Nicholas Savage, Chairlift's Patrick Wimberly, Solange's son Julez, and more all make appearances. Below, find a statement from Solange about the film.
Earlier this week, Solange shared some new visuals for A Seat at the Table: videos for the songs “Don’t Touch My Hair” and “Cranes in the Sky.” The videos were co-directed by Solange and her husband, music video director Alan Ferguson.
