St. Vincent has announced a new album—a stripped-down, piano-based version of last year’s MASSEDUCTION. This one’s called MassEducation (one letter makes all the difference), and it’s out October 12 via Loma Vista. Annie Clark recorded MassEducation with longtime collaborator, Doveman’s Thomas Bartlett, on piano. It was recorded in two days while mixing MASSEDUCTION. Clark describes it as a “reimagining” of last year’s LP. MassEducation includes Clark’s recently released “Slow Slow Disco.” Check out the piano version of “Savior” below.

“We neither rehearse nor spoke about how to approach any song, but rather, played two to three live takes, picked the best one, and trusted in the feeling of the moment,” Clark said about the new record in a handwritten letter. “So here it is—two dear friends playing songs together with the kind of secret understanding one can only get through endless nights in New York City. Enjoy.” Read the full letter below.

This summer, St. Vincent shared a reworked version of the track called “Fast Slow Disco” that got a Zev Deans-directed video. Check out the MassEducation album artwork and tracklist below.
