Taken from their forthcoming self-titled debut

She-Devils’ love affair with 1950s rock sounds and warbling surf-pop can make their music feel like the best greaser film you’ve never seen. But the duo aren’t just vintage stylists; Kyle Jukka’s capricious sample-based production and Audrey Ann Boucher’s fragile melodies peer through their retro soundscapes. “Hey Boy,” the latest song from their forthcoming self-titled debut album, is a lovesick fantasy in which windblown guitar riffs and dusky synths cloak sultry vocals. “If I catch myself dripping and drowning now/Oh Boy/Sitting here waiting for prince charming,” Boucher sings with deadpan allure. Boucher’s vocals feel so close that each breathy coo seems to brush up against the hairs of your neck. On “Hey Boy,” She-Devils continue to gaze backward for their sound, but feel just as haunted by the present.
