Despite their relatively low profile, the Melbourne synth pop duo (and cousins) Chloe Kaul and Simon Lam have managed to rack up over 11 million Spotify spins. Since the release of Kllo’s (pronounced kl-OH) breakthrough EP, 2014's Cusp, the duo’s been touring sold out shows and filling festival slots throughout Australia. They’ve recently signed to Ghostly International for their upcoming Well Worn EP. “Walls to Build,” from that release, is a pleasant and fluid pop tune that blurs lines between R&B and two-step, with Lam’s production soaring subtly beneath Kaul’s gossamer vocals. When she sings, “There's no walls to build here,” you can feel the sentiment—listening, you feel a bit more free, without barriers. It all makes “Walls to Build” lovely and transporting.
