In September, a festival bio for Kevin Shields claimed that a new My Bloody Valentine album would arrive in 2018. In a new interview with Pitchfork, Shields was asked if the band would indeed release a new album next year. “Oh, we one hundred percent will,” he said. “One hundred percent.” Shields revealed that the band started recording the album last year, but they had to keep stopping to focus on the new analog remasters of Loveless and Isn’t Anything. He went on to describe the scope of the album, which they’re in the process of finishing.
Shields also said that My Bloody Valentine plan to tour next summer behind their m b v follow-up. “We’re going to play live again, so that’s always a really good way to guarantee that we’ll get the record done,” he said. Read the feature in its entirety.
