Brendan Canty and Joe Lally, the drummer and bassist of Fugazi respectively, have formed a new band with guitarist Anthony Pirog called The Messthetics. They have announced their self-titled debut album. It’s out March 23 via Dischord. Check out the first single, “Serpent Tongue,” below. They’ve also announced a string of U.S. tour dates—see their full itinerary. The Messthetics formed in 2016, marking the first time Canty and Lally have played in a group together since Fugazi went on hiatus in 2002. In 2011, Lally released his last solo album Why Should I Get Used to It. The Canty-fronted band Deathfix shared a self-titled LP in 2013.
