Beyoncé led the pack in the Grammy nominations for next year’s award ceremony, with nine nominations in various categories. In addition to nominations for Album, Record, and Song of the year, she also garnered nominations for Best Pop Solo Performance, Best Rap/Sung Collaboration, Best Rock Performance, and Best Urban Contemporary Album—that’s four awards in four different genre categories.

In an interview with Complex, the Recording Academy’s Vice President of Awards Bill Freimuth revealed that this is the first time any artist has had nominations in four genres all in the same year. “You’ve had other artists in the past, say Michael Jackson maybe, who have been nominated in that many different fields, but not in the same year and on the same album,” he said. “This is a first timer for us and personally I think it's appropriate and pretty cool.”

According to the New York Times, this year’s nominations bring Beyoncé’s career total to a whopping 62 Grammy nominations, making her the most-nominated female artist in history. Eight more wins will make her the most-awarded female artist in Grammy history, beating out Allison Krauss.
