Deerhoof have announced a new 7" vinyl inspired by Stanley Kubrick’s iconic 1980 horror film The Shining. It’s called Deerhoof Plays Music of the Shining and it’s out October 26 via Famous Class. Ahead of the release, the band has shared their rendition of “Midnight, the Stars and You,” which is the Al Bowlly song that plays during the film’s ballroom scene. Listen below.

The 7" cover art features a repetitive message that pays homage to The Shining’s iconic “All work and no Play makes Jack a dull boy” typewriter scene. The vinyl itself was designed to recreate the rug pattern from the film’s Room 237. See it below.

Last year, Deerhoof dropped the album Mountain Moves. They also shared a compilation of music from each member’s side projects to benefit the Young Center for Immigrant Children’s Rights.
