Kendrick Bans Photographers (But Not Phones) From Concerts

Contrary to reports, you can still use your phone at K. Dot shows

This past weekend, reports emerged that Kendrick Lamar was planning to ban phones from his concerts, like Jack White, Dave Chappelle, and others have done. Today, a rep tells Pitchfork that Kendrick will not, in fact, prohibit phone use at his shows. He also hasn’t banned fans from taking photos—only professional photography will not be allowed. Top Dawg Entertainment will provide images to media outlets as needed. This is becoming an increasingly common practice, with artists such as the Killers and Beyoncé choosing to only use their own concert photographers.

Kendrick Lamar has a string of European dates lined up with James Blake, before he kicks off the Championship Tour in May, alongside SZA, Schoolboy Q, and more. He recently curated (and heavily contributed to) the soundtrack for Marvel’s Black Panther.
