Annie Lennox has released her first solo single since 2010. It’s titled “Requiem for a Private War,” and it was written for the new biopic A Private War. Take a listen below.
In an interview, the Eurythmics singer elaborated that she was asked to contribute the song by A Private War director Matthew Heineman. The film follows the foreign correspondent Marie Colvin, who was killed while covering the siege of the Syrian city of Homs in 2012. Lennox explained that she had met Colvin before the journalist died. “I can’t say I was a friend, but the tragedy is if Marie hadn’t been killed, I definitely feel I would have seen much more of her,” she told EW. “I don’t want to be in any way sentimental about any of this, but if Marie were here, I feel that she would feel that this was worthy of her.”
